Homebuyer Education
- Group education provided through Tri County's Home Ownership Made Easy (H.O.M.E.) class.
- Provides an overview of the whole home buying process.
- Curriculum covers:
- Setting goals, savings, and developing a spending plan to meet goals.
- How to read and understand a credit report and how to resolve credit issues.
- Shopping for a home, looking for energy efficiency productrs, obtaining a structural inspection, and making an offer on a home.
- Reviewing mortgage products, grant programs, and first home clubs, prequalifying for a mortgage, shopping for a lender, and avoiding predatory lenders.
- Budgeting for homeownership, home safety and maintenance, and what to do if one experiences difficulties in meeting one's mortgage obligations.
- Setting goals, savings, and developing a spending plan to meet goals.
- Class participants will receive
- A copy of "Realizing the American Dream" published by the Neighborhood Reinvestment Training Institute.
- A certificate of completion at the end of the class; certificate is good for two years.
- Instructors: Tri County staff and guest lecturers from related fields
- Schedule:
- Once per month either on a Saturday or Friday
- Registration begins at 8:00 am; class is from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with a one hour lunch break.
