Pre-purchase (financial fitness/credit counseling)
The client, along with Tri County's Housing Counselor will:
- Determine mortgage readiness and the steps needed to become mortgage ready
- Review income, assets, expenses, and debts
- Develop a spending and savings plan
- Determine mortgage carrying capacity for several different mortgage products and which one will best suit the client's needs
- Review credit report to determine if there are any credit issues that need to be resolved
- Develop a plan to resolve issues, if needed.
- Obtain information on first-time homebuyer grant programs and energy efficiency
